Hamsa Fish
Introducing Hamsa Fish! A decorative vintage brass fish has been given new life as a Judaica object in this piece made with various layered metal Judaica jewelry charms, and crushed copper (a natural element that clears out negativity and conducts energy).
The Hamsa and Star of David amulets are known to promote protection and prosperity and they have been used throughout this sculpture to highlight the fins and ridges of the vintage brass fish. The concept behind featuring these elements is to share the message that each individual charm, like each individual human, is beautiful and matters on their own and is unique and valuable. But when brought together as a community or as an artwork, an even more powerful result is formed. This is the strength of the Jewish people and should be celebrated as a group, but allowed to flourish individually however one might want to explore their ancestral culture. The charms and crushed copper are secured with clear epoxy resin for durability.
Hamsa Fish seems to be swimming on a pool of water made from poured resin, as it sits displayed upon its 1” thick acrylic base.
Welcome this statement display piece to your home today as a beautiful decorative element that brings with it a celebration of the Jewish culture and an appreciation for natural resources.
This work was created in 2023 by artist Kenny Zablotsky, who utilizes his Hebrew name Channan Tzvi when designing for his Judaica studio Hamsas of Munkatch.
Hamsa Fish was exhibited at the Drezner Gallery of the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon, Connecticut during their “Gone Fishing” exhibition in July 2023 and at the Windsor Art Center in May 2024.
